Jean-François began his career in France, coming through the youth ranks of Paris Saint-Germain before joining CS Sedan Ardennes. In January 2006, he signed for Scottish Premier League side Falkirk,[1] where he made a handful of appearances before departing the club at the end of the season to join French Ligue 2 side En Avant de Guingamp.[2]
In July 2008, he was named as a trialist for Aberdeen in their pre-season friendly match against Brechin City,[3] but he failed to win a contract.[4]
In late January 2009 he arrived at Swindon Town and appeared in a reserve match against Swansea City,[5] and impressed manager Danny Wilson sufficiently for him to offer him a contract until the end of the 2008–09 season.[6][7]
Lecsinel eventually made his début for Swindon in February 2009, making a total of five appearances by the end of the season. As a result of these performances he was one of four out of contract players offered new contracts in May 2009.[8] and signed a one year extension the following month.[9]
After being released by Swindon, Lecsinel joined up with former boss Danny Wilson once more, signing for Sheffield United on 20 June 2011.[10]
Despite being born in French Guiana, Jean-François qualifies to play for Haiti national football team as it is the birth place of his parents. He is also the first Haiti international to play for Sheffield United.[11] On 7 November 2011 he was called up to the Haiti national team to face Antigua and Barbuda for World Cup qualifiers.[12]
After the earthquake in Haiti, Lecsinel's home nation, money from the match between Swindon Town and Leeds United was donated to help the disaster in Haiti.
